Lava is In Stock now!!!...

lava.JPG blacklava.JPG
this is the small 1/4" "clean" Red ($20.00/1cu ft bag PICKED UP HERE) and BLACK Lava($8.00/8lb bag) - the small Black Lava- in stock at this time 11/20/17
email for availibility and current prices
It is a great aggregate product. I have sold it on and off for years but always considered it "too expensive" for my Soil Mix?   In this area,  many use Haydite($5.00/Bucket ALL 3 sizes PICKED UP HERE_YOUR BUCKET(S)),  as it is produced locally and reasonably? priced.  I started to use the Lava here after I got in a Semi Load FULL and had so many broken bags I had to use. I have a good "review" of it after several years of seeing how it performs. It is a superior aggregate and I would recommend it, if you can "afford" it? I like it alot and like its performance-at least for my area and the Trees I grow. The small feeder roots seem to love it and cling or grow into the pores?!!
The info I saw while "researching" Lava some time ago was VERY vague and there were ALWAYS two totally conflicting comments on it's benefits or it's weaknesses?...

So far, in the Lava that I have gotte- I have seen - mine has ALL been porous! It does absorb water! It does sink in water! It is coarse and sharp.(I saw conflicting internet info on these past opinions? maybe the commentors got an inferior quality or bad batch? Each Lava Flow would be possible to be different textures, colors, denisty, etc?...)
My Soil seems to  "firm" up very nicely after the first watering! Bareroot plants potted into my Lava Soil Mix seem to be sturdier right away and "hold on" very well and seemingly  better than my Haydite Soil Mix and longer term results seem overal better too? I have been using BOTH Haydite and Lava in my Mix for several years now. With Lava in the Mix, I do see better results of soil structure and root development in my old soils & Trees when Repotting established Bonsai in my 3-5 year Repotting cycle, comparing Repots that did or did Not have Lava! I will add an interesting picture showing the roots later? More to come on it's values and weakness, beyond the Price Issues?...

MAJOR DRAWBACK!!- SHIPPING!!!...
the bags of RED Lava are 1 cu ft. - this is like a big bag of dog food and also smaller sizes.
The Black Lava is bagged in 7lb Bags or other sizes are available in limited quantity
IT IS VERY  expensive TO GET and to SHIP AGAIN and shipping adds so much to the actual cost of the product!! I suggest picking it up here-(**someone probably should NOT load 40 bags in a mini van?-40 bags is about 2000lbs- 1 ton!)!! Each bag weighs about 45 lbs dry. If it is wet, it seems it could weigh double? (It does hold alot of water)
I also cannot take "orders" to "deliver" to Shows at this time!
So for now, I am still looking into economical ways to get this product moved around? But it is here! So come and get it...

It can be shipped abd the best value seems to be USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes...

email if you have questions?

BLACK LAVA HAS ARRIVED! 3/26/14!!
